About this pattern

A little fire spirit with a golden face, a red flickering crown and embroidered sparks curling up its body.

Flame the Fire Sprite is the kind of amigurumi that stops people mid-scroll. The body is worked as a single teardrop in a five-colour gradient running yellow through sand, orange and red; the flames are then joined directly into the body and worked outward, so they grow out of it rather than being stitched on; and the whole thing is finished with chain-stitch embroidery swirls and French-knot sparks.

Why You'll Love This Pattern:

  • 45 numbered step photographs across 13 pages — this is a photo tutorial, not a stitch list. Every awkward stage is shown.
  • The flames are crocheted into the body — joined at the hole made in round 23 and worked upward, with the pattern explaining exactly where to join the left and right flames so they sit symmetrically.
  • A genuine gradient — five shades from yellow to red, with guidance on choosing them so the transition reads smooth rather than striped.
  • An error already corrected — the original round 33 was written as 7sc, dec, 16sc, dec, 6sc for a round that only has 32 stitches. It is fixed here, with a note explaining what changed and why, so you will not hit a round that cannot be worked.
  • Every round has its stitch count in square brackets, plus a short plain-English note on what that round is shaping.
  • The decorations are yours — the swirls are chain-stitch embroidery in any shape and size you like, so no two sprites are the same.
  • A proper "yarn under" note — the sample is worked yarn-under for a tighter, straighter fabric, and the pattern tells you what changes if you work yarn-over instead.

Skill level

Intermediate. You will need the magic ring, chain, slip stitch, single crochet with increases and decreases, half double, double and treble crochet, plus one simple embroidery stitch and the French knot. Nothing exotic — but this is not a first amigurumi.

  • Hook: 1.5–2 mm (the sample uses 1.5 mm steel)
  • Also: a pair of plastic safety eyes (or embroider them kawaii-style), polyester stuffing, needle, scissors, stitch marker
  • Finished size: approximately 15 cm / 5.5 in

Please note: this pattern is for Flame, the fire sprite. The blue water sprite that appears alongside her in some of the photographs is a separate design and is not included in this file.
