About this pattern

One squishy little body, and then you decide what kind of monster it is.

The Little Monster is a chubby, huggable amigurumi with big googly eyes, stubby legs and a face that can be cheeky, grumpy, sleepy or delighted depending entirely on where you put the mouth. Work it in velvet chenille yarn and it comes out plush and squeezable; work it in worsted cotton and it comes out neat and sturdy. Either way it takes an evening.

Every monster is the same pattern. The personality is all in the details:

  • πŸ‘οΈ One eye, two eyes or three β€” the eye piece is a simple flat circle, so add as many as the monster needs
  • πŸ¦„ Horns, ears or a party hat β€” striped, plain, one or two
  • πŸ‘… Tongue, teeth or a big grin β€” all embroidered, all optional
  • 🎨 Any colour you like β€” the samples run lilac, sage, mustard, coral, sky blue, plum and teal
  • πŸ”‘ Or make it a keychain β€” instructions included for a split-ring loop between the horns

Why You'll Love This Pattern:

  • Genuinely beginner friendly β€” magic ring, single crochet, increase, decrease. That is the entire stitch list.
  • Every stitch count checked β€” the round totals in this version have been corrected and verified, so no round leaves you three stitches short of the number printed in brackets.
  • Fast β€” a single evening in chenille yarn. A perfect last-minute gift, market filler or stash-buster.
  • Endlessly repeatable β€” make a whole family and no two have to look alike.
  • Worked in a continuous spiral β€” no joins, no seams up the body, no visible round line.
  • Great for kids' gifts β€” swap the safety eyes for embroidered pupils and it is baby-safe.
