Dalmatian Puppy Amigurumi Crochet Pattern
About this pattern
One ear up, one ear down, a shiny black nose and a slightly worried expression. This is the puppy people ask you to make for them.
The Dalmatian Puppy is a sitting amigurumi dog with a properly sculpted muzzle — not a ball with a nose sewn on. The head is shaped with a chain-and-skip technique that builds the snout out of the face itself, then the spots are appliquéd on wherever you like, and a bow tie finishes it.
Why You'll Love This Pattern:
- A photo tutorial, not just a stitch list — dozens of step photographs through the whole make, including the tricky muzzle rounds shown frame by frame, the face embroidery, and how the ears sit.
- That muzzle technique, explained — Rounds 10–12 chain over, skip stitches and then work back into them so the snout forms as part of the head. The photos show exactly what it should look like at each stage.
- Every round has its stitch count in brackets, and the eye placement is given precisely: between rounds 12 and 13, 16 stitches apart.
- Spots are yours to place — crochet them separately and arrange them however you like, so no two puppies are identical.
- A real face — embroidered eye whites and eyelashes plus a plastic dog nose, which is what lifts it from "cute" to "someone made this".
- Sits up on its own — the body and legs are shaped so it holds the pose.
- Any colourway — leave off the spots and change the yarn and the same pattern gives you a Labrador, a beagle or a plain white puppy.
Skill level
Advanced beginner. The stitch list is short — sc, hdc, dc, slip stitch, increase, decrease, back loops — but the muzzle shaping and the face embroidery reward a little experience. The step photos carry you through the parts that are hard to picture from words.
