Black Cat Amigurumi Crochet Pattern
About this pattern
A long-legged black cat with green eyes and a curled, poseable tail. She stands about 12 cm (4.7 in) tall on a weighted, flat base — a slim, slightly witchy silhouette that looks as good on a shelf in October as it does all year round.
What you get
- 6-page PDF, instant download after purchase
- US crochet terms, round-by-round with stitch counts on every line
- 36 step photos — eyes, nose, ears, the tail join, the wire frame and the base are all shown
- Every stitch count checked against the rounds before publishing
The pattern
Head and body are worked as one continuous piece — no seaming the head to the neck — and the tail is joined straight into rounds 49–50 of the body, leaving a small opening so a wire can be threaded in afterwards. That wire is what lets you bend and pose the tail into a curl. A button or plastic disc goes into the base so she stands up straight and doesn't cave in.
The face is sewn on, not embroidered: green cotton eye circles with black pupils (highlight stitches optional), a small shaped nose, and folded triangle ears. The pattern makes a point of it — where you place the ears sets the cat's character — so you pin and try a few positions before sewing.
Skills & materials
- Stitches used: magic ring, ch, sc, inc, invisible dec, sl st — worked in a continuous spiral
- 1.5 mm hook for the body and tail, 1.0 mm for the ears, nose and eyes
- Original uses Alize Baby Wool (50 g / 175 m) plus fine black cotton and a little green; any yarn works — the pattern is universal and the finished size changes with your yarn and hook
- Also needed: fiberfill, 1.2 mm wire (18–20 cm), a small button, a 30 mm button or disc for the base, tapestry and sewing needles, pins, stitch markers
Level: confident beginner upward. The stitches are simple, but the fine hooks, the tail join and the wire frame make it a step up from a basic amigurumi — the pattern does not teach the basics.
