Christmas Granny Squares Crochet Pattern Book — 28 Festive Motif Squares
About this pattern
Twenty-eight Christmas granny squares in one 68-page book — a gingerbread house, a Christmas pudding, a penguin, a wreath, a stocking, Santa and Grandma Claus, and plenty more. Make one as a coaster, a dozen as a cushion, or all of them as a blanket.
One square, twenty-eight faces
The clever thing about this book is that every square shares the same eight-round base. Rounds 1–4 grow a flat circle in half double crochet; rounds 5–8 turn that circle into a square with corner chain spaces — and those four rounds are identical in all twenty-eight. Learn them once and you never learn them again. What changes is the colour, and the appliqués and embroidery that go on top: a cap and a hanger make a bauble, a surface-crocheted line with little appliqué bulbs makes a string of Christmas lights, a brim and a pompom make a hat.
That also means you can stop wherever you like. One square is an evening. Four are a set of coasters. Nine make a cushion front. The full set makes a blanket you build across a season — which is what this file was written as.

Technique tutorials included
Three full photo walkthroughs, which is what lifts this above a plain pattern list:
- Magic circle — six photographed steps, from how to hold the yarn to closing the ring
- Mid-stitch colour change — every colour change in the book happens in the middle of a stitch, so the join disappears; shown in three steps
- Surface crochet — six steps, used for drawing lines across a finished square (the Christmas lights wire, for instance)
Special stitches are written out too: puff stitch, picot, mini picot, increases, back and front loop work.
